I’ve been looking forward to Anna & Wesley’s summer wedding at Rosegate in Florence, Mississippi from the moment I first met them at the end of last year! You may remember them from their engagement session we did this past spring. They are such a sweet & fun couple, & I knew their wedding day would be the same way!!
When Covid-19 hit a couple of months ago, I checked in with them to see if they were wanting to postpone their day. They said with absolute certainty that they wanted to have their wedding on June 13 even if only just a few family members could attend. They wanted to become husband & wife no matter the circumstances! I was so impressed by their positive attitudes & their focus on what truly matters – their marriage! Thankfully, they were able to have all of their family & wedding party there in person. They lived-streamed the ceremony so all of their friends could join in & celebrate with them!
When Saturday arrived, the weather could not have been more perfect! It’s usually unbearably hot here in Mississippi in June, but the humidity was low which was such a blessing for Anna & Wesley’s outdoor wedding. I was so excited that they decided to share a “first look” because it was one of the SWEETEST moments of the day!! Wesley was overcome with emotion over seeing his bride – it was the best! After their “first look”, Anna & Wesley exchanged special gifts. He gave her a necklace displaying her new initials, & she gave him a customized watch with a personalized message to her now husband. We spent the rest of the afternoon taking some of my favorite portraits ever!!
During the ceremony, the pastor asked everyone in both families to stand & commit to love & accept this new addition to their family. Anna & Wesley’s first act as husband & wife was kneeling together in prayer before the Lord! I can’t imagine a better way to start a marriage than by surrendering it to Him. I loved getting to take some “just married” portraits of them just as the sun was setting – it was absolutely perfect! Anna had a fun surprise for her Tennessee- loving dad at the reception! During their father/daughter dance, she had the DJ play “Rocky Top”, & of course I sang along with them since my husband is also a Tennessee fan!!
Anna & Wesley – your day was a dream, & I am so thankful I got to capture it for y’all & your sweet families! I’m so grateful to know y’all & hope these photos will bring you joy in your marriage for years & years to come!!
