Hey friends!! I am so excited to share another post about our house updates! I shared about our sunroom back in March, but with wedding season in full swing, it’s taken me a few months to share about our dining room, featuring our beautiful farm-style table built by none other than my amazing husband!! He finished the table & matching benches several months ago, but I didn’t finish adding the finishing touches to the room until just recently! I am SO thankful for Dyl & all the ways he works so hard to make our house a place we love. I can’t believe it’s almost been a YEAR since we bought our house & started doing projects! Time has flown, but we are still loving living here & making this place our own!

You’ll see the LOVELY before photos of our dining room below!! These were taken right after we closed on the house! We wanted to get the entire downstairs of our house (dining room, living room, & kitchen) painted before we moved all of our stuff in, & we had 2 days before we were about to drive to Houston to shoot a wedding & were moving in as soon as we got back. What were we thinking?! Thankfully, our SWEET friends, the Bowlins & the Cox’s, helped us paint all 3 rooms in 2 nights. We were seriously insane, & I’ve NEVER been more exhausted, but we were SO thankful to have it done by the time we moved in the next week! We seriously couldn’t have done it without our friends, & that just goes to show that it takes a village, always.

Throughout this process of updating our house, I’ve realized that our goal is NOT to make our house look “perfect” (whatever that means). It is to create a space that we LOVE to live in. As much as we are on the road for weddings, seeing family, etc., it’s important to us that our home is a place that gives us peace & makes us feel like we can truly rest when we are home. That’s our goal with every single project we do, & we hope that encourages you! It’s not just about how a room or house LOOKS, it’s more about how it feels to YOU, that matters.

It was seriously AMAZING to see what a coat (okay, several coats) of paint, a new light fixture, & new curtains could do to brighten up a room!! We’ve loved having our small group over for dinner in this space since we now have a table big enough to fit almost everyone (we have a pretty big small group, ha!). I’m so happy with how this room turned out!

Dylan did such a great job on our table!!

This pie safe was my great-grandmother’s that my grandmother passed on to me! I love having a piece of my family heritage in our home! I store most of our serving dishes in here! I bought this white separated carrier from the Vintage Market Days here in Mississippi back in the spring!

Dylan’s aunt gave me this wooden tray from Magnolia for Christmas! I love it!! Of course, I had to frame one of our favorite anniversary photos taken by the amazing Jon Sharman! My mom got the white mason jar from one of our favorite stores in Franklin, TN, White’s Mercantile! The candle sticks are from World Market, the blue candles are from Target, and the cake stand was an amazing deal that we found at Magnolia’s semi-annual warehouse sale we went to last summer!

What kind of house update post would this be if Zeke didn’t make an appearance?! He’s gotten SO big!! We just love him!!

My sweet mother-in-law gave me my very own Magnolia wreath for Christmas this past year, so I wanted to find the perfect window pane to hang it on as a focal point in our dining room! We knew we could find the perfect one at one of our favorite local stores here in Jackson, MS – Old House Depot. We didn’t have the wreath measurements with us when we found the window pane, so I was just hoping it would work, & fortunately it was the perfect size for the wreath!

Replacing the light fixtures in our house was one of the first things we did when we moved in! This chandelier was a great find at Lowe’s! It’s been perfect!!

Finding chairs for the ends of our table took forever!! It was the last addition to the room after I finally found these white dining room chairs from Target

We loved getting to update this room & can’t wait to share more from #theHambickhouse as we continue to do projects!!
